Our 20th Annual Summer Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 10th at the Beaver Island Marina Shelter.  We eat at 2PM, so show up before then.  (Jojo will be there at 9AM if you’d like to get there early and help him unpack.)

Speaking of Jojo, thanks to him and his traveling kitchen we will be enjoying all of the usual picnic fare, including hot dogs, burgers, sausage, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, and potato salad.  The picnic is FREE to all members and their families.  All we ask is you bring a fish or a dessert to pass.  That should read DISH not FISH, unless the fish is part of the dish of course.

We will have games (egg toss, a casting contest, water balloon insurrection, Def-Con 1, basic gun repair (you know… kid’s stuff) and a piñata for the little ones, so make sure you bring your little musky anglers.  (Marc and Gabrielle, pack up Elyse and Bradley, and whatever you do, DON’T FORGET RODDY!)  (Sorry, Rod.)

As usual, the raffle table will be loaded with goodies, including two Shimano Compre rods, a bunch of lures (think custom painted Mr. Toothy’s), one of those fancy bump boards and at least $200 worth of non-fishing related items.

We will once again hold our yearly exercise in futility: The Adult Casting Contest.  Carrie Keane just won last year’s event in the 109,678th round.  (At the bitter end it was just her and T.J. Clark competing.  You should see T.J.’s beard!)  Maybe we need a bigger target?  Does anyone have a kiddie pool?

Our picnics are always a nice, relaxed, family friendly time.  Jojo has cooked for us at every picnic we’ve ever had (I think).  Thank him by attending.  See you there!
