Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Carrie and I fished the river today from noon to 6:30.  We spent most of our day in UN5,6 and 7.  We both needed a change of scenery and I always try to get down there at least once in the fall.  We started the day in front of Strawberry and in the Triangle, but the wind blowing against the current made trolling a little difficult.  It made everything a little difficult, really.

We trolled mostly, but we did cast a little at the Huntley.  No fish.

A many of you know, I love baseball.  As far as I'm concerned there has never been a game that is as perfect as baseball, and playoff baseball is perfect bliss.  I would have loved to fish tonight, but with game seven of the World Series taking place, we quit early to watch it.

Congratulations to the San Fransisco Giants on their third championship in five years, and to my little brother, Bruce.  Bruce has been a Giants fan since he could hold a bat, and I don't know of a bigger Giants' fan this side of the west coast.  What a ride for him since we watched the Giants beat the Pirates in the Wild Card playoff game in Pittsburgh.  Their determination and ability to overcome some of the worst starting pitching in playoff history in their last two games is remarkable.

What can be said about their All-Universe Ace, Madison Bumgarner?  Jake Peavy and Tim Hudson should give Bumgarner their series rings.  He seems to start every batter he faces, 0 and 2.  His command of location, ability to change speeds, that devilish curveball and ice water in his veins, wow!  Truly a performance for the ages.  I wish I was as good at one thing for just a few hours as Madison Bumgarner is at pitching a baseball under the pressure-cooker environment of playoff baseball.  His five scoreless innings tonight in relief on just just two days rest after pitching a nine inning shutout in game five is the stuff of baseball legend.  At this point in his career, I don't think there is any doubt that he is the greatest pitcher in Major League Baseball playoff history, and that includes the immortal Bob Gibson.  I am very happy to have seen MadBum pitch in person, especially with one of the people I love most.  Bruce, if history repeats itself, enjoy your year off from the Series in 2015 and start saving money for the 2016 Fall Classic.  (Save some for me, while you are at it.)

Despite the fact that the baseball playoffs are my favorite sporting spectacle of the year, I'm glad they are over.  I can start fishing at night without feeling like I'm missing something.  Tonight I would have missed something historic.
