Harbor Boat Launch & Retrieve

 It is very nice that we have a working relationship with the NFTA / SBH to have boat launch facilities in the Buffalo Harbor until Nov 30th each year.But with the SBH being transfered from the NFTA to the Harbor Waterfront Board,will we still have this access?I will try to address this at the Jan 15th Erie County Fishery Advisory Board meeting.I will also ask that the FAB try to get emergency boat ramp access at the Erie Basin Marina Launch.The emergency access would be to have access to the Eire Basin Marina Launch to safely pull your boat when gale force winds come up catching fishermen on the water with waves rolling over the dock at the SBH.You or partner can drive your truck & boat trailer over to Erie Basin Marina and retrieve your boat safely.I will bring this up with the NMA Board in Febuary as well.

I exchanged email communication with Erie Basin Marina Harbormaster Don Poleto yesterday about use of Erie Basin Marina Launch till Nov 30th,using Safety as the main reason for the need.I was told to direct a letter to the Comm. of Public Works of the City of Buffalo,he needs to be directed by that office to make a change.I will discuss with the FAB about getting letters from them,the Erie County Federation of Sportsmen Club,the NY Conservation Council,ELECBA,NY M.I. Chapter 69 and will bring it up at the Feb NMA board meeting.

At last nights FAB Meeting the board members decided to send a letter up to the County Exec. asking for his support for having the SBH & Erie Basin Marina Launches open from May 1st till Nov 30th.

At last night's Erie County Federation of Sportsmen Clubs meeting a motion was made to send letters to the Comm. of Public Works of the City of Buffalo(Erie Basin Marina Launch) and NFTA (SBH) to have launch access from May 1st to Dec 15th each year.Motion was passed, no objections.
