Images

Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

One of the perks of fishing with Jim Reynolds, in addition to his side-splitting stories, is the opportunity to test drive a few of his latest creations.

This past trip I was fortunate enough to try his new 9" jerk bait. I have no idea what he calls his latest entry in his extensive collection of toys, so I'll refer to it as the Toothiano.

I wish I had images to accompany this post, but it looks like one of Ed Latiano's classic lure, the Ready Eddie. Unlike the Leo Lures version of Ed's jerk bait or the Reef Hawg, which are both hatchet baits, the Toothiano is a glider like the original Ready Eddie. The Toothiano doesn't have the exagerated sweeping glides of some jerkbaits when worked slowly, but it excels when worked quickly, with quick side-to-side darts and intermittent dives and rises. It even slithers through the water on a straight retrieve.

I have never embraced the jerk bait in the past, but I have slowly started gravitating towards them over the past few years. With my 8:1 Lexa HD, working jerbaits is a pleasure. Listening to Joe Dolan espouse their hypnotic, Zen producing qualities over the past few years has certainly helped. Fishing jerkbaits can be as hypnotic as top water fishing, but with more production.

I don't know how much they will cost, and I don't know when Jim will have some for sale, but if you are in the market for a beefy glider, give Jimmy's new homage a shot when he unveils them.

Lat's have a look see, Toothy! Everything you touch turns to gold.

Nothing like a beefy glider after a few hours on the water. With or without hot sauce????
