Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Haven't had any time in the past month to fish so a friend invited me for some 'eyes off the Catt. yesterday.  Went straight out to 68' & got seven using dipseys & jets along with a ton of silver bass & a couple of perch.  Unusual thing was that none of the 'eyes was over 20", most being 16"-19". A couple we even had to throw back for being undersize.  My share of the catch:

1st thing I noticed was the color variation in them.

John, Those are the best eating size! I may give the river floating weed workout a break in a few days and go catch some of those smaller eyes myself.

Cap'n...black & purple spinners and chartreuse spinners were the hot ticket.  A guy back at the State launch had a few small ones & one eight pounder.  I woulda' thrown the 8 pounder back in.  He used stickbaits only, tipped with a small piece of crawler.  I'll take those 16"-20" all day.  I like 'em up to about 23".  As the Polish say "smaczne!!" (tasty).

I like that 70 ft water on the Canadian line off the Catt this time of the year.Need to try out the down riggers Chris helped me setup on my boat, might try fluttering a few spoons in black & purple up through the eyes.
We will go on Sunday.

Good luck out there.  My friend, who took me out, used a Chinook Diver, & I really took a liking to it.  No false releases & no "non-releases."  Very easy to set up & use.  They were presented at one of the Southtown's meetings and are manufactured in Ra-Cha-Cha.  We're taking a ride up there Friday & I'm going to pick up a couple.  very impressive divers.

When you go to 70, just don't go too far.  Start at 67'.  The fishing, along with hooks on the bottom, disappeared right around 70'.

We went out at 310 deg, about 7.2 m out, just west of a pack.

We use Kastaway Magnetic Dipsy's they reset if they trip by accident and release easy when you hook up with a fish.

never heard of them.  I'll have to look them up.

John, Today my friend Ray went north out of the Catt to 70 ft on the Canadian line and caught 17 walleyes, with seven 8 lbs +!

Cap'n...do you know what he was using?

Took a ride to Sturgeon yesterday with my wife & had lunch at Connor's.  About 30 trailers in the lot but couldn't see any boats.  Then they came in from the west.  Must have been "over the edge."

Saw 2 younger guys straining to carry a cooler.  (prob full of empties!!)

He used Three D worm harnesses Wide Willow Thumper Blade in copper w/Watermelon tape and black w/purple tape, with crawlers.Big Dipsy on #2 setting let out till it tapped bottom in 70 ft of water, then reeled up 3 cranks, around 295 out at 2.1 mph.
