AUG 9 and 13

Got a call from Frank, who i'd met at the dock, mentioned in previous post. He took me up on my offer to fish on 8/9.

Water wasn't too clear, spent the day showing him around the usual spots. Caught a few sticks, a metal vase, and various debris.

We both missed bites on drifts along strawberry, as evidenced by the teeth marks on the tubes. Could have been some feisty Walleye.

Went back to Thompson's Hole Eddy (SeaWorld) to finish the day. Got a 2ft Golden Sucker. I caught a nice walleye casting a large swimbait out into the current and deep water. As Frank went to net the Walleye, and Massive Musky came charging up from depths after it. I held the Walleye out to see if I could illicit a strike- The Musky opened her mouth, and turned away at the last second. Walleye was at least a broad as me holding it up with two hands; the musky dwarfed it. I'm notorious for underestimating size when they are still swimming, so for me to say the Musky was big, it could have been a Leviathan. Next time I'll go bigger with my swimbait, and hopefully catch her first.

Happy to report I took Frank out again 8/13 in his chase for his first Musky. Really slow day. Water was starting to clear up a bit, Seaworld, Frenchmans, Strawberry all came up with nothing.

took him over to one of my favorite drifts around 1:00 and in our last hour he managed to land his first, a real nice 38" or so. Didn't measure, wanted to minimize handling time, and still get a photo of his first fish.

On the very last drift he hooked a really nice fish and got it boatside, but hooks came out as she got to the net. Looked to be a few inches bigger than his first.

I may not have had much luck in two days, but my free guide service is really taking off. Hope Frank finds his way to the club, and maybe i'll have added one more for the membership drive.
