Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Not wanting to miss the new moon I went out last night planning on putting in work cleaning weeds but found conditions had improved sInce Wednesday. Tom decided he was going to work the beach and I figured I’d fish my way down toward him. He called me a bit later to let me know he had just lost a fish and was going to continue pounding the area, so I decided to leave him alone and did a long troll upriver. After reaching the top of the area I was going to concentrate on I began sliding down and across when my lure was stopped. A quick jerk of the rod set the hook and I was rewarded with some heavy head shakes. The fish went to the surface and stayed there most of the way in. When I grabbed the net was when it finally decided to try heading deep and it powered into view and charged under my boat. Luckily it was deep enough to miss catching the motor as it circled around the stern. I forced it to the surface and it started doing more head shakes and I figured it best to hold it there and not let it back down while hoping it wouldn’t throw the lure. A quick positioning of my net and I dragged the fish over the hoop. Caught! Whew! I sat down and called Tom, telling him big fish in the net. He ran up to me while I unhooked the fish and we swapped my camera for his bumpboard. A quick lift for pictures and onto the board. Bump..49.25”. Cool! Tom went back to fishing while I just drifted awhile waiting for my my excitement to mellow..lol. No more action for Tom or myself and I tried to last until the major, but the fish had soaked my jeans pretty good and I got too cold and ended my night shortly after he did.

That's a great report, Carl. Thanks!

Fantastic fish report, Carl! Congratulations on your 49 and change, and "but the fish had soaked my jeans pretty good and I got too cold," may be the funniest thing ever written on our website.

Carl, EXCELLENT! Persistence always pays off. Well, almost.

Guess I should’ve clarified that the fish splashed so much water on me that he soaked my jeans..lol

Congratulations on a great fish and a wonderful report!  Hard work paid off

Carl: I just love those high fashion jeans you are wearing. Kids are paying tons of money to buy jeans with ripped knees.  You are the NMA"s new fashionista!
