Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

My brother and I usually set aside a day to fish together once a week. Afterward we usually grill, play Cornhole (he beats me consistently (which is really hard for me to admit)) and watch baseball (repeats this year, so far). It's great. Really great.

We mostly bass fish, but if the muskies have  been biting on my boat he'll fish for them.  Since the muskies have most assuredly not been biting on my boat, we have been bass fishing.

Bass fishing in the river has proven to be brutal for us lately. With the oppressive heat we've been experiencing, we decided to try something a little different last night. We went bass fishing.  "It can't be worse than it is in the day," I said.

Wanna bet?

We started by casting spinnerbaits, cranks, jerkbaits and swim baits to no avail.

When the sun set we started drop shotting with our baits set a bit higher than normal.  I wish I could tell you we slammed them, but I can't.  We didn't catch a thing except for slime and moss.

I was a bit pissed, but Bruce had a good time which in turn made me have a good time.  It was a great night to drift down the river. "At least we proved night fishing for bass is worse than it is in the day," I said.

Bruce replied, "Yeah, but not by much."

We noticed a lot of panfish and carp in the marina by the boat when we pulled out. Next time we might combine all of our weekly rituals at once by grilling and fishing with bobbers and worms off the docks.  It couldn't hurt. Can you catch less than zero fish?

The water was gin. The surface temp on the east side was 78, and 75 in front of Strawberry.  With this heat it will be awhile before I try musky again.  Good luck and stay safe, team.
