Decided to join Tom zigzagging back and forth in front of Strawberry last night. After a few hours he went home fishless and I figured I might as well clean weeds for awhile and went down the east river. I wasn't disappointed and caught enough of them to have my fill. Let the lure back after clearing another ball of weeds and thought I had dropped right back into a big cluster so jerked the rod forward hoping to clear them. The feel of headshakes let me know it wasn't weeds. I quickly gave a second jerk to set the hook. Boat in neutral, headlamp on and enjoying the fight of a heavy feeling,deep fighting fish when suddenly the lure pulled out. Damn. For the first time in awhile there is an eagerness to get back out..
