Volunteers Needed: Ladders to the Outdoors

I just spoke with Fasha Antonio, the Niagara Region Coordinator for Ladders to the Outdoors.  She needs volunteers for her fishing seminars at various local state parks this summer, i.e. Beaver Island, Evangola.

This is pretty neat.  She received a federal grant to purchase a trailer loaded with fishing equipment.  She plans on ten events this summer where kids will be able to use her stuff to go fishing.  She has the tools, now she needs the talent.

The events are normally scheduled on weekdays.   My hope is that a few of you talented, retired, anglers can  help her out.  Each session lasts about two hours and will have thirty kids or less, ranging from five years old to seventeen.

Very cool.

Please respond to this string or contact me directly if you are interested.

Gary...I can join you for one, maybe two of the events. I used to volunteer at the Jolly Boys Kids Fishing Derby in Williamsville & it was always a blast. We'd take the NMA banner, give a little pep-talk to the adults for spending their time & effort to attend with the kids & help them get rigged up.
At the end, we'd have a raffle (for adults only) to give away 3 or 4 $5 gift cards to Tim Hortons.
Let me know & I'll sign up with you.

If the programs are on a Monday or Tuesday, Carrie and I would participate in a few.
