Louis and I couldn't make it out on the weekend (opening day on the west river) but we made it out today and made it our opening day.
Started about 6 am. Sun was bright and intense. Sky was bright blue and almost cloud free. Light wind from the west. The fair-weather musky angler couldn't ask for more!
First drift I was a bit off course and nothing happened. Made some adjustments for the second drift. Louis pointed out a large school of bait as we began the drift. A moment later he was fighting a fish. It was a short but intense fight, and we boated an angry and violent 49 incher! Before releasing it the musky was able to bloody, gash and slash both of us.
Going to have to give Louis a new nickname, maybe "Opening Day Lou". He's caught three trophy muskies on the past few opening days!
Louis added a 36 incher on the third drift.
I caught squat.
Fished til 10:30 and got out of the sun.

A couple of nice muskies. Congrats, Louis (and to the net-man, too!)
