I took off the afternoon on Friday with plans to fish with Carl Schenk from 12:30 PM till at least 8:00 PM. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the water there was probably a foot or less of visibility. We did try for a while including drifting the entire length of the river side mouth of the Black Rock Channel, but nothing.
I had also planned to fish most of Saturday and Sunday, but with the water like it was I did not fish at all on Saturday and canceled fishing with a friend from work on Sunday morning.

By 1:30 PM on Sunday I could not take it anymore and decided to hit the river solo for at least a couple of hours. The water was odd, it looked like the normal foot or less of visibility (hazy whitish-tan/green), but was actually about three or four feet of visibility on the Canadian side at 2:00 PM. I decided that I would troll at slower speeds (3.7 to 4.0 mph) with one of the custom color Toothies Jim painted for me gridding the bottom. They are black and white stripped with an orange belly. On the second pass through the triangle I hooked up with a 47.5 that showed her age. She had older lamprey scars on both sides and several splits in her tail and other fins.

I spend another hour or so fishing until 4:00, at which point the water actually looked a little worse and I called it a day.

So as much as I did not get to fish the hours that I wanted I shouldn't complain.
The most figure 8's you seentag:niagaramuskyassociation.ning.com,2013-10-13:6476506:BlogPost:211482013-10-13T22:06:02.000ZScott Kitchenhttps://niagaramuskyassociation.ning.com/profile/ScottKitchen

Veronica and I went out today from 2:30 PM till 5:00 PM hoping to avoid any rain. Fished in UN2 on the Ontario side. On the first drift I had a 32" fish follow the sardine swim shad back to the boat, so I went into a figure 8's. He followed five full figures 8's and then hit the shad. That has got to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. It led me to wonder, how many times around will a musky go in figure 8's, so...

What is the highest number of figure 8's you have gotten out of a fish? It doesn't matter if the fish ended up hitting the lure or swimming away.

Oh, we got one other fish, a jumping 36"er.
Drop Everything Thursdaytag:niagaramuskyassociation.ning.com,2012-03-16:6476506:BlogPost:24652012-03-16T00:30:00.000ZScott Kitchenhttps://niagaramuskyassociation.ning.com/profile/ScottKitchen

As I have said before (and will say again, and again and again) when Ray Mahtook calls to drop everything to go fishing, you had better drop everything. So Ray called yesterday to see about fishing this morning "the brown trout are biting".

Do you want to fish tomorrow morning?

Yes, Yes I do.

So I declined a few meetings and took the day off. Funny thing is that Ray's so good we only needed about three hours (two actual hours of fishing) to land a limit of brown trout. Ray, being the generous guy that he is, let me do all the actual fishing. I lost three (or was it four) and landed the six. All in two hours!

I was thinking on the way home, if all fishing was like this I might not be able to hold down a job ;-)

A picture of the day's catch is attached.

Thanks Ray!!!!!!!!
