The U.S. Coast Guard has passed a law requiring boat operators to  have their emergency cut off switch in use when moving above a troll. Applies to boats under 26’ unless the operator drives from within a cabin. Goes into effect April 1.

Any idea of the number of injuries from not having the ECOS attached? Right now, if I'm fishing solo I'll hook it up but if there is someone else in the boat with me, then "no" it's not hooked up.

Here's a News Release from the USCG I found on the requirement for emergency cutoff switches. It also mentions the latest; fobs, which are the electronic version of cutoffs that automatically shut off motors when they sense water:
