Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

I am a little embarrassed by this, but I went fishing today.

On our way to my whip we stopped at the foot of Sheridan.  If you decide to fish anytime soon, bring a ton of rock salt.  The docks are a solid sheet of ice.  I know this because I went bass over tea kettle today walking out to check the clarity.  Carrie warned me, but I really don't listen well.  After my tumble I sort of rolled around in the snow laughing at how stupid I am, which I'm sure delighted the Border Patrol officer watching me.  In the process I lost my phone, which I (Carrie) realized later (much later).

At the boat, once my girl started peeing (my Yamaha VMAX, Fortunate! (either of you!)), we started trolling in the canal.  The clarity near the end of the Army Corp canal was about 3 feet with chartreuse.  At the end of the canal wall it was about two inches.  We trolled there for about ten minutes when I noticed the snow had surrounded us.  Instead of going home, I decided we should give the humps a shot in the Triangle.

After a freezing ride over to the shack, we trolled a little until there were no visible landmarks on shore anywhere.

We trolled a little more.

I finally smelled the coffee, and we ran back to our dock guided by my GPS.  The apartment buildings by Harry's were just visible when we reached the canal wall.

We didn't catch anything, which came as no shock at all.

With so many people stranded and snowed in, I feel like a jerk fishing and relaying this story, but we had to give it a shot today.  I don't think we'll have many (or any) chances before the 30th.

Best of luck, everyone.

Scott..great report...thanks.  And, I don't think you were a jerk at all.  I think you played it very smart.  Being a jerk would have meant NOT checking conditions at Sheridan, NOT being dressed properly (I know you do know how to dress), NOT noticing the weather, NOT going out with a kicker, and going out WITHOUT your GPS.  Jerks go out unprepared.  To me, there's nothing wrong in going out in bad conditions, but if you do go out, go out prepared (Boy Scout motto:  BE PREPARED).

John, I appreciate the sentiment but, I still think he's a jerk. I told him the dock was icy and not to walk on it, he " pooh-poohed" it and promptly fell, nearly giving me a heart attack. If anyone absolutely has to use the Sheridan launch, PLEASE be careful!!!!!
Scott, I hope you only broke the ice and not yourself.Yes, going to be hard to find any clean water from now to the 30th, even with the warm up there will be winds and the melting snow run off.Saturday looks like more high winds,Sunday I will search all the possible Harbor trapped water area's for a chance, if it is possible to run the gauntlet. I have not been able to check to see if the SBH got snowed in or not.You never know you could have caught a Jumbino by going out!
