Unity Island Rehab

I got an email from Andrew Hannes, an Ecologist for the Corps of Engineers. He sent several pics of the work being done at Unity that he presented at one of our meetings. The Corps is creating new aquatic habitat & created a weir that was going to open the pond area to the Niagara. Native vegetation, like celery, is already starting to grow on its own, and a lot of fish have been seen moving in & out of the pond. I'll send an email & try to get him to give us an update at one of our…See More

Wed's Scuba Dive

Posted on August 9, 2018 at 8:59am 2 Comments

The dive report sounds like some fishing reports: "We got nothing."

The muck was so deep at the Cargill that one diver stuck his arm into it up o his elbow, with no resistance. The silt is so fine we picked it up on Andy's fish finder when it was kicked up with their flippers. They saw no fish of any kind.

Bottom conditions at the Bell Slip was slightly better but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Saw one decent largemouth

They want to try again. Visibility…

For those who know or read Bill Hilts Jr's column every week, he posted his mother's obit today. She was taken by ambulance to Hospice a couple of days ago & went to her final home yesterday. Here's the info:

As we are so will our children be. She must have been one heck of a wife and mother.

Hey, Gang! If you want to help some kids get into fishing stop by the Old Homes Day in Williamsville at Island Park. We measure, untie tangles, get line out of trees, bait hooks & give a few tips. Prizes are given to the top fish & everyone gets a lure.

Tomorrow, Sat, July 14th, 9:00 a.m.

Come on down & have a relaxing Saturday morning!

Thanks John, I'll be sure to try and make the party. The profile picture Musky? I'd figure maybe very low 40, the picture is just a generous angle.

JJ - bug prolly looks familiar from the OOFS site. The answer is NO I've not FF'd for musky on the fly before, well I did once earlier this summer and after that I started investigating more and found NMA. I had to expand my opportunities beyond the local streams which as you know have been horrible all summer long. I was ready for a new challenge and it looks like I have it here.  Thanks for the note.
