Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

I received an email from Chris Driscoll, DEC Fish Biologist, & they are looking for volunteers to help them with YOY musky seining next week. Below is Chris' email:Christopher.Driscoll@dec.ny.govI did seining with Dr Kevin Kapuczinski for a couple of years & it was an "educational blast!" I learned a lot about sampling. Everyone should try it at least once.Last time out someone asked if they could have…See More

Future of the Thunder Over Buffalo Air Show

One of the good discussions at yesterday's meeting concerned this year's Air Show over the Buffalo Waterfront. Personally, I like to walk right up to the aircraft on the tarmacs. Not this year. More unfortunate was that it coincided with the musky opener, bass opener and part of the Southtowns Walleye Derby, in addition to the closing of launch ramps. Here's an article that gives a hint that the topic is under discussion and some probable contacts:…See More

Mono Collection Bins

Whenever/wherever we have our next face-to-face meeting please bring in any monofilament you've collected from your bin(s). i'll be at the next meeting.

Take note of the round-trip mileage & about the number of minutes you spent traveling, walking & emptying the bin & jot it down somewhere. Time & mileage are considered one of the matching funds. Measure it once & it'll be the same from month to month.

If you're re-spooling any reels this year, next year or…

Monofilament Collection BIns

For a project that took the last year off, it got off to a good start. Out of the 12 locations that they're installed, only one isn't assigned (so far). That's the one at the bottom of Devil's Hole, 400 steps going down, 4,000 coming up. The BNW is emptying that for now but it might move to the top. Additionally, if we see or hear of any suggestions, we're open to all of them.

Below is a video of emptying a bin. It's for guidance only & nothing says it has to be done that way. Use…

THUNDER ON THE BUFFALO WATERFRONT

Posted on June 2, 2021 at 2:36pm 6 Comments

If you planned on using the launch at SBH for the musky opener, forget about it. NYS Office of Parks & Recreation will close the launch from dusk on Thursday the 17th & reopen Sunday the 20th after 4:00 p.m.

Any questions about SBH contact A. Berti at the number listed at the top of the release.

I have no idea if the waterway at Bflo Harbor or the Upper Niagara will even be open to boaters. Those bodies of water aren't part of the NYS Parks system.…

Thanks John, I'll be sure to try and make the party. The profile picture Musky? I'd figure maybe very low 40, the picture is just a generous angle.

JJ - bug prolly looks familiar from the OOFS site. The answer is NO I've not FF'd for musky on the fly before, well I did once earlier this summer and after that I started investigating more and found NMA. I had to expand my opportunities beyond the local streams which as you know have been horrible all summer long. I was ready for a new challenge and it looks like I have it here.  Thanks for the note.
