Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

July 28, 29 Family Fishing Day

I just want to commend and thank Andy Lacko and Gary Shore for volunteering their time and expertise to the Family Fishing Day held at Freedom Park this past weekend. Andy and Gary spent most of Saturday and Sunday at the event and provided yeoman work to this very worthwhile family affair. They were exceptional representatives of the NMA to the many new and young anglers who needed and appreciated their assistance.I was only able to attend on Sunday but saw what a worthwhile event this was for…See More

I've barely fished the river but between cullen and myself we have 15-20 fish to add to those totals including a couple ddinks. I've also pulled baits away from small fish already this season. Lots of mid 30s fish around right now, the ones that were Mia last summer.

Tony...thanks much for the info update and I completely agree with you on the sub-30's fish.  It is concerning & I, personally, like to see small fish caught (& properly released) for any species.  At least then, we know the fishery is healthy.  Has the fishery in the past been cyclic with up's & down's as with other species (take perch five years ago vs. now) or has there been a steady decline?  I know the sampling done by the DEC has shown a steady decline in YOY...

thanks much.

Tony...it looks like there are a lot of muskies in the 30" range caught (or lost) so far this month.  How does that compare statistically to this time last year?  Is it typical?  Does it indicate a healthier fishery than last year? Is it too early to tell?

August Meeting

Posted on August 4, 2015 at 9:30am 0 Comments

NMA members,

We learned yesterday that our August speaker had to cancel due to a family health
issue.

In lieu of the scheduled speaker, we will be reviewing this year's catch data to-date - see what's working, what may be different from years past, and how the season's progressing so far. This info should assist you in your Niagara River fishing pursuits for the next couple months.
