Images

Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

I sorry. I do not know if this has been covered, but heard the release size limit was reduced to something like 36 inches. Is this a misprint? Is that correct? If this is a misprint this could be a HUGE problem. I seen it in that booklet ya get for species, size limits, fishing areas etc. and fishing areas. The shop only had one left, and he showed it to me, and it was this years. Does anyone have any word about this? Also I got I bit more money if anyone still has some lures left to sell from the swap meet. Let me know!

I don't know what he showed you but that is ridiculous and simply not true. It is something that never could have been done without NMA raising a huge stink about it. Either he was trying to pull your leg or he needs to be educated so he doesn't misinform others.

I have the rule book in front of me. It is 54" for Great Lakes including Erie, Ontario, Niagara R and SLR. For all other waters that have purebred muskies, it is 40" except Greenwod Lake (see below). Statewide tiger size limit is 30" except in waters that have pures, tigers is the same as purebred (Great Lakes 54" and other waters 40"). These are two acceptions: 1) In Otisco Lake for tigers it is 36" (there are no pures there). 2) Greenwood Lake which is half in New Jersey and has both pures and tigers, both pures and tigers is 36". Maybe Muskies Inc. could work on changing that one.

I will have to call and ask here he got the booklet from. I don't want to give out the store's name, but Jojo, you know him if that helps, and if you want to call me I can tell you where I seen it. I seen it. He showed me it was a current cover, and the "size release in the 30's, It looked legit? Why would someone change the release size in print, and how would you do so in a pamphlet provided by the State? I think it may possibly be the one they give out when they sell you a fishing license, and he brought it up to me after I told him I was a Musky fisherman. He asked if I had seen it? It looked to be a 2017 pamphlet. I looked at it and it said in all NY waters. P.S. I also told him that we would have heard of it, and there is no way we wouldn't have gotten involved with that!! I told him that I do not believe that is right! That is why I asked. If that is a misprint with a any kind of numbers behind it that could be devastating!

Jerry,

As Steve stated, the regulations clearly state the Great lakes minimum is 54 inches and state-wide is 40 inches. Don't know what was shown to you, but it was not the current NYS regulations booklet.

Tony

Jerry...you should have taken a pic with your cell phone, if you had it on you. I've learned to do that more & more, especially when my wife sends me to the store to buy something. If I don't take a pic at home first, it'll be the wrong brand, or the wrong size, the wrong color, the wrong something. I'm wrong a lot. I take the pic, go into the store, & there it be! Takes all questions away.

It looks like a magazine. Last year the cover feature was Fishing for Muskies and there was an article in it by Tony Scime' and Scott Mckee. This year the feature is Fishing Lake Champlain.

He did tell me and I told him it is not so!
I will contact him again to make sure.
He is like a brother to me so that means my words are meaningless to him? That's how Brother are at times.
Jojo will get on it.

Glad to hear it Jojo. He is a super nice guy. I told him that there is no way that this is true, and that the NMA fought for the higher size limits! He told me here it is, and showed me it in print. I told him there is no way that is true! Granted, I didn't totally scrutinize the pamphlet that he was holding, as he shown it to me, but it looked current by the cover. I told him that I would look into it as well, and I also told him I would bring it up the Big Guys in the NMA, and I also told him "there is NO WAY this could get by the "higher ups"(You Guys) unnoticed. I also told him I would ask about it, and that is what I did. All I ask is "Please don't shoot the piano player"! (That is an album by Elton John I believe?) Just wanted everyone to know that this was being said out there!

On a side note. No one's got any Lures left they didn't sell from the swap/sales meet?! Shoot me a message if you do! Otherwise, Dang! You mean to tell me my extra money is going to have to sit dormant till next year?!
