Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Went out last night figuring I'd fish the new moon peak beginning after midnight. Tom was there ahead of me and I went down the east river to meet up with him and see if it would be out of the wind. While working my way across the channel upcurrent of the south GI bridge I looked downriver and saw a 30' plus boat coming almost directly at me. Too late for me do much more than bring my front end around and ride it out. It felt as if the front half of the boat rose out of the water as the wake hit and even tho I spun while up on top I still couldn't keep the boat from slamming back down. A little too crazy for me. I'm not even sure if the operator of the other boat even knew I was there. Crossed over to the island side and trolled up the edge until just above Motor. Hooked up and fought a decent feeling fish partway to the boat, but had it get off when I stopped reeling and turned on my headlamp. Wind had settled a bit so I fished the west side for awhile and did manage to land a 31" dink. Headed over towards Tom and watched him lose a fish just before we quit for the night.

I fished the Tonawanda channel at night years ago. Stopped because of all the cigar boats and large cruisers running up the channel. The cigar boats would run up to Shooters/Breakers in the harbor and back. They hit breakwalls, reefs, fishing boats and buoys. I decided to stay away. Be careful out there.

Carl or everyone (for that matter), a big blinding flashlight can come in really handy at night.

When I used to fish off Sturgeon Point at night a 2 billion gazillion candle-power hand held search light came in handy a couple of times for the yahoo's flying out of Mickey Rats on the way to SBH

Years ago, Joyce and I would anchor alongside other boats a few hundred yards above the peace bridge at dusk and fish for yellows. But the darker it got, the more anxious I got due to speeding boats coming back from the lake. Spent too much time with my spot light instead of my fishing rod.  Gave that up.  Better safe than sorry.
