Fishing report 8/19

Fished the river today solo.  I had every intention of jigging, but I was marking most of the bigger bait just off the weed edge, so I ran home to momma and cast and trolled.  I caught a dinker on a 6” jointed Believer short lining in UN1.  I tried the same program in UN2.  While slowly trolling up the weed edge from Frenchmen’s, I noticed a decent musky porpoise.  I killed the kicker and chucked a black bucktail at the swirl.  On my second attempt flipper bit.  My first thought was, good fish.  My second thought was who is this guy in the white Lund?  Turns out it was Dax Jacklin and his son. They pulled up to my ride just as the hooks pulled out of the musky.  Nice fish; high thirty, probably forty and thick all over.  Oh well. I was planning on popping the hooks boat side anyway.  Dax shaved his facial hair and I didn’t recognize him.  The bucktail I threw was missing a lot of hair.  Coincidence?
