Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Good Day

Fished last week Wednesday 5/23/12 with Mark Anderson 1-7. Did I ever tell you how much I love the Niagara River? Or how much I love the river in the spring? It reminds me of the Florida flats. Stalking critters in super clean and super skinny water, when you almost always see your next victim or runaway. What can be more exciting then seeing a critter looming and dancing at your every jerk or twitch??? Well maybe a bigger critter???

The day started slow , but gained momentum around five, when I picked up Mark. I managed to get three quarters and a half, of the Niagara Slam. For those that have never slammed, the Niagara Slam consists of a Large Mouth Bass, a Small Mouth Bass, a Northern Pike and a Musky all in the same day. I caught several Large Mouth, a Small mouth and several pike to 28 inches and a couple of Musky doing the twitch foollowing my blue and silver Husky Jerk Rapala. Actually all the fish fell for my Husky Jerk. ( Wish a could get a human female to fall for it???) The blue and silver 7 inch is my favorite spring color, unless I am wishing in chocolate milk.

Do not forget to use a solid steel leader, even in the spring. One of my Pike zigged when I zagged and ended up being a " crinkled leader" fish . He missed the Rap and caught the leader in and across his open mouth. This guy luckily did not get the point and laughed so loud when he saw me, that the lure and leader slipped out. But he could have easily gotten a case of deathly lock jaw from my Rapala. This is not my first case of the "crinkled leader" fish, so PLEASE use a solid steel leader all the time when in Esox Country. Which all the time in the river. Check out my blog " Take Me To Your Leader" on our site for more info.

Also note that all the info needed for the Niagara Musky Association Angler Diary is in my report.

That same color husky jerk is also the only one to use on Conesus lake in May and early June trolling at night along the drops in about 12 to 15 foot of water at about 1mph.

They must sell a lot of them this time of the year.
