Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all. Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

It appears there are a lot of decent fish to be caught in the River if you try. Today Carrie and I fished the River with the intention of beating the heavier northwest winds by getting out early. Our early and your early are probably two different early's, but the first lures were wet by 7:15. Our plan was to jig UN2 and 13. About halfway through our first drift the dreaded NW's picked up and blew us towards the channel. I decided we'd cast tight to Strawberry. Carrie popped a very nice smallmouth bass on a a Rapala Super Shad Rap in walleye. She was excited even though it wasn't a musky. She's hasn't popped a 'Ski yet this year and is getting a little pissed off. Her first reaction is to pout, but that is quickly replaced with determination. A good trait to have for a musky angler.
We decided to troll the Triangle as the wind was starting to really pick up and boat control was becoming an issue. It wasn't howling, but it was warming its voice up.
On our first pass cross streaming, I caught a 41" on an orange belly perch Mr. Toothy forty-four feet back at 8:20. She was a nice fat short forty.
At 10:00 I popped a 36" on the same Toothy, this time downstream trolling very close to where I caught the 41". Mr. Toothy's dive STH (straight to hell) and since I was only in 17' I shortened my line to forty back.
We tried trolling some spots in UN13 and cast below the Shipyards, but we didn't see another fish.
Around 12:30 we called it a day.
For you trollers out there (all two of you), the moss in the west River wasn't bad at all and there weren't many floaters at all. The east River had a bit more moss, but it wasn't thick enough to walk on.
There are muskies out there and they are biting. Go fishing.

Carrie: I know from personal experience that pouting usually works. And if pouting doesn't, try swearing at the muskie gods. I do both with equal success, at times. Of course, sometimes you must pout and swear for a few days straight before the mgs get tired of it.
And I would get out while the wind is still blowing. Wind is always good for muskie fishing.
Wow Scott what did you do to catch two muskies to Carries' none, rip the rod from her hands, lol.
I asked her if she wanted me to hand her my rod if another fish hit and she yelled at me, "I'm not five!" Starboard me, port her.
Actually it was more "I'm not f-ing five!" As at that point I was swearing at Scott, the Musky Gods, and anyone who could hear us above the wind in the river. Having only 10 hours on the water less than him, with him at 6 fish and myself at 0 was trying my patience after a mere 3 hours sleep :) I am attempting to be positive, after all it took me until Thanksgiving of last year to have a 3 fish day!
Like Marc says, "It happens out of nowhere."
Carrie: he's really a show-off isn't he? I bet he told you a hundred times how beautiful that fish was. Couldn't let it alone. Have patience, Carrie. There will come a day when you will yell at him to get the Beckman. Then you can give him the business.
