Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Zipping up the east River this morning I noticed that she was either jacked with bait or loaded with weeds.  I put my west River plans on hold and decided to see what was down there.  I was really hoping the cluttered screen on my ancient Lowrance X-85 represented bait, but I was pretty sure it was weeds.  After 30 seconds I had my answer.  The entire water column was loaded with cut weeds.

Disappointed, Carrie and I headed west.  My plan was to troll and cast to UN12.  I knew I couldn't head farther down the west side; my brother went bass fishing on Friday and while he always gives me go-go juice money, he never puts any gas in the tank and likes to leave me low.

Carrie and I started trolling in UN2 and the weeds weren't much better there.  After about five minutes it was time to cast.

Carrie has a vendetta with a nice musky in UN13.  Her nemesis is a high thirty incher that loves to hit her favorite bucktail and then throw the hooks back in her face.  This has happened on two occasions.  We know this fellows address and today we came knocking.  He wasn't home.  Carrie is determined to catch her Moriarty and I bet she does.

We trolled to the Shipyards where the floaters weren't nearly as bad.  After a few passes there we cast the big point on the cusp of UN12.  Nothing.

We trolled a bit in UN12.  As usual the weeds were horrendous on the New York side.

We backtracked and cast the Shipyards and I had a decent enough fish follow my bucktail for about 30 feet.  The water has been uncharacteristically clear on the Canadian side of UN13 lately, which also coincides with me not catching fish there, and I had a great look at the fish.  As soon as I "L'd" the lure the fish shot back to the weed edge.  After a quick troll we zipped up to UN2.

We set up for a shallow troll and had a little chat with Carl.  He had a bunch of follows and a fish hit on a figure 8, but nothing to the boat.  On the downstream troll with the boat running perpendicular to Frenchman's Creek and just as I was about to put the boat in neutral and call it a day, Carrie's rod went off.  After a brief tussle she landed a spunky 35" on a 5" Wiley Musky King in silver shiner.  The fish had a scar a few inches up from its caudal fin on the left side.  I have been seeing this a lot this year.  I'm not sure if this has anything to do with these scars, but don't squeeze the hell out of a muskies tail while you are reviving it.

We trolled for a bit after the fish until the the rain intensified.  Neither of us brought our rain bibs and I had to drop off the newsletter at Kinko's, so we called it around 12:30 PM.  Back out tomorrow morning.

Thirty-five more points for the MISAA.  I can't wait to pull my new Plow next year.

I fished mostly the west river today. Mostly tubed but did some trolling. Caught nothing.

I'm not sure if I like the musky gods anymore. You'd think getting wet would be worth a fish!
