Fishing Report 9/31/14

Carrie and I fished the river today from 4 to 7pm.  We planned on staying out later, but a few boomers over Fort Erie chased us off the water.  After trolling the bait laden canal and channel for a bit, we tried a little casting.  On my first cast in UN4 I caught a scrappy 33 or so inch dink on a Storm Giant Flatstick.  The little guy smacked it at the boat.  After a few more casts we went back to trolling.  Nothing.

The river had that eerie feeling to it today.  The wind was swirling, the humidity was through the roof and the dark clouds seemed to follow us down the east river.  The dink hit just as the winds switched from dead east to dead north.

Bruce and I are off to Pittsburgh in the morning for the Giants / Pirates wildcard playoff game.  I hope it's as good a game as tonight's'.  What a comeback by the Royals.  My Phillies suck, so I'll adopt Bruce's team for October: Go Giants!  Are there any other baseball fanatics out there, or are Dan Lacko, Bruce and I the only members interested in playoff baseball?  Sports-wise, there is nothing better, as far as I'm concerned.  I'm watching The Natural as I'm writing this.  "Scotty Carson sent you here?  He must be nuts.  Fella, you don' start playing ball at your age.  You retire."

Good idea.  Red, I should have been a farmer...

 lockjaw last two nights,at least i had my net with me last night,daaah.would have been kinda fun landing a big one with no net. had a few back up plans  ready ,head in perch basket etc.
