Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

I checked out the MostlyMusky Web Site and found a tip from Capt. Larry for releasing skis during high temps.  I have never tried this technique, but am wondering if any of you have.  Thanks for any input you can offer. It would be nice to have a trick or two to help release skis successfully in higher temps

If I had a baby pool, I would place three milk jugs of ice in it, grab a hose and spend most hot days in there.  My neighbors wouldn't be happy, but...

John:

I'd be very hesitant and would not try this without first getting the opinion of a fisheries biologist. I don't believe this extreme measure is necessary. Best thing is not to take the fish out of the water.

Maybe I'm wrong, but fish kills are caused by temperature shock. This appears very shocking to me.

If you haven't already, read,  Evaluation of the physiology, behaviour, and survival of adult musk... by Sean J. Landsmana,Hedrik Wachelkab, Cory Suskic, Steven Cookea. The link is on the sidebar "Read This".

Don't do this unless you find some empirical information showing that it is safe for the fish. Maybe Larry has more info which can help.

Thanks for the additional information Tony.  I didn't plan on trying the technique, but rather was interested to see if this technique has been used by others.  If so, I would have liked to here their experiences with it.  I have kept and bred tropical fish for over 20 years and my experience tells me sudden changes in temperature will stress and or kill a fish.
