Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

I forgot to open the gas tank valve after trailering home the other night and yesterday the motor was leaking gas and the bottom was full of gas. when I opened the valve the pressure was apparent. did the pressure blow out an o-ring or gasket or does the fuel simply run out the carburetor. can I troubleshoot by pumping up the ball?  not interested in blowing myself up..

Carl...if you can't unscrew it, it looks like two pieces press-fit together.  besides that, there probably isn't enough material in any of those pieces to cut a thread plus thread cutting is expensive.  Cheaper to make a press-fit out of the mating pieces and let the press provide the seal.

I doubt you'll get anything like that at Walmart.  probably have to go to a dealer for the make outboard it is.  If it's a leaking press-fit, you can't save the joint.

Thanks for the pic.  Replacement ones might even be one piece by now (cheaper to make).  They wouldn't have to pay anyone to press the pieces together either.

If you happen to have the service manual for some reason hidden away the oem part number does wonders on eBay. Boats.net has breakdowns of the motor and a lot of the parts are reasonably priced while the special ones are outrageously over priced.
I took the male and female fuel line connectors at the main hose and outboard right out, cut them off and put a plastic hose repair connector between the two hoses with hose clamps. No more leaks - no more sacking air and cost less then $5 to do!
