Images

Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Jim Reynolds and I went to Waneta on Saturday.  The forecast looked better than the Buffalo forecast and we figured with the NE wind the river would be rough.  Waneta was dead calm most of the day and there was only spotty drizzle.  We even had a peak of sun in the afternoon.   On our way out the canal, about 9AM, I was talking to Ed Cragg on the VHF and he told us that there was a guy going across the lake on a snowmobile. We looked out to the lake and, sure enough, we saw a snowmobile running across just outside the canal.

We did a lot of casting.  Jim was on a spoon kick.  He got 3 pickerel on huge spoons and lost a few others.  About 2PM Jim had a nice hit casting a spoon but it didn't hook up.  Ed caught a mid 30s fish casting and a 42 trolling.  Later we saw him loose 2 or 3 others casting in the north end.  Jim had a real nice rip trolling a small spoon in the south end just at dusk.  It was gone before he got the rod out of the  holder.  I never had a hit or follow all day.  All of the action was in the 10 to 12 ft range.

So far this year I've been out 8 full days and all  I have to show for it is two short rips and one follow.  Many people (including some of my non fishing friends) would think I'm crazy for spending so much time fishing for muskies without catching any.  Some might even say I need a therapist.  But the truth is, I probably would need a therapist if I didn't spend the time fishing in order to relax and forget about some of the other things in my life.

Mark Marcus and I will probably be at the TWMT.  Jim Reynolds will probably be there with Bob Sauke if Bob can make it.  None of us have any muskies yet this year.  Hopefully that will change.

If we can't make it there by 7 AM, is there a way we can still register for the tournament?  We won't back out if we don't catch any fish.

Bob has been working a lot of hours lately.  He was working 12 hr days on the week of the Mark Troy tournament so he wasn't able to make it to the tournament.  On the day of the tournament, we found out that his father passed away so I guess it was good that he wasn't at Waneta when he found about it.

Steve, you can show up late and fish the tournament.  You can register for the JHMT at the November meeting or give Adam or Scott your entry fees after the event.

Very sorry to hear about Bob's father.
