Services for Hans Mann

Below is a listing of the services planned for our dear friend, Hans.

Thanks. It's all very sad.

I'd bet I've been to well over 100 funerals in my life.  The vast majority of these services have one overwhelming trait in common. They are sad affairs where those in attendance wish they were somewhere, anywhere else. The remembrance service for Hans this morning shattered that archetype. At one hour and forty minutes, this was the longest of these such things I've attended.  I can tell you firsthand the service went by in a flash.

Several speakers including Hans' mother, sister, Marc Arena and his lifelong friend,  who's name escapes me, gave firsthand accounts of Hans, his accomplishments, all the people his life touched and what a fine, honest, upstanding life he led. They did so from their hearts. They did so in a manner that made you appreciate your relationship with Hans even more.  Each speaker nailed their speeches to wall and left the audience wanting more.  To cap it all off, Hans' father then gave an amazing rendition of Amazing Grace.

I'm sure the hundreds of people in attendance felt the same thing I did: this was an uplifting service, a fitting tribute to talented, funny, loving and caring man, or Mann, in this instance.  Some of the sadness we were all feeling was abated slightly and replaced by affirmation that we were all lucky to have to have called Hans our family member or friend.

I wholeheartedly agree. One of the most enjoyable celebrations of "a life well lived" I've ever attended.  Josh Ketry's video tribute was also outstanding. 

But I must say that I never knew that Han's father, Ken, was such an outstanding singer. What a great and touching finish!

I somehow forgot Josh's video presentation. I'll chalk that one up to old age. It was awesome, uplifting, and just like Hans,  hilarious.  Great work, Kid!
