Spring clean up & Beaver Patrol

Yes, they are back at it again. During a recent kayak trip, I observed that the lodge on Motor Island (just upstream of the beach on the side of the island facing Grand Island) had been reconstructed. As such, it would only be a matter of time before they'd start harvesting the island trees. More tree wrapping with wire mesh is needed on Motor Island. Maybe the Niagara Musky Association would be willing to take on this as they did before.

Of course, a better solution would be to trap them out. By the way, I have also noticed that saplings in the East River Marsh are also being preyed upon by beaver. Might be the same group or possibly a new lodge has been established although I did not see any evidence of that on my last visit.

Starting to plan spring clean and it looks like we have the beavers to contend with also? If anyone sees any chain link fence in garbage please grab it ! It works better than the welded garden fence. Jojoonit
