Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for having me as a new member to NMA. I’m relatively new to fishing the river, but hope I can learn from those who are willing to share. I have been out every weekend since opener with nothing to show for it. I fish out of a 19’ sylvan with a 175 Evinrude and Merc kicker for anyone who might have seen me out on the water.

Last weekend I did hook into a good muskie, only to lose it boat side. I had no problem landing 2 carpets, 3 sticks and a submerged cable though.

I will try to make it to the next meeting and am looking forward to meeting everyone.

Cheers

Hi Kyle,

Looking forward to meeting you.

Catching muskies on the Niagara is not any easy task, but the reward when you do is usually a pretty good sized fish. Fishing for muskies is pretty basic and allows a number of effective presentations - jigging, casting, and trolling. They all have their place and time and are mostly dependent on your preference. The most important ingredients are time on the water (the hard part), and effective presentations (the easy part). Our newletters and annual Catch and Release reports will give you an abundance of information and data detailing what works.

I'll be glad to discuss these things with you at the meetings (and our annual picnic which is scheduled in August). Come with your questions.

By the way, I have a lot of experience losing big fish boatside!

Tony

If it was easy, everyone would be musky fishing.

I did catch a hat last year year, though. I think it was a Carhart. Thought it was a walleye!

Hope to see you at the next meeting.
