Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Event Description

Have you ever fished the lower Niagara?  It is beautiful, both visually and because of its tremendous big fish potential. It is a tough, low density musky fishery,  but there is always the chance at a monster.  And I'm talking about a true monster fish.  The kind of fish that makes winter seem like it lasts only two weeks; a potential fish of your lifetime.  One of those warm and fuzzy, fist pumping, high fiving, running around the boat, screaming, adrenaline rush muskies.  The kind we are all after.

John Henning knew this, and he fished the lower more and better than anyone who has fished for muskies there, ever.  Think about "ever".  "Ever" can only be said about one person.  That is John.

John passed away from cancer in 2008.  We honor his memory with a tournament each December.  This year's JHMT will be held on Sunday, December 1, from 7AM to 4PM.  Eligible waters are the lower Niagara River and Niagara Bar only.  The entry fee is $25 per angler, and all entrants must be members of the NMA.  If you are interested in participating, contact Adam Kazmark, (623) 205-9938, or me, (716) 225-3816.  Adam will also accept entries from 6:30 to 6:45 (sharp) the morning of the event at the Lewiston Sand Docks.

I encourage all participants to report all muskies caught during the tournament to Adam and I immediately after they are released.  Participants should contact Adam or I for updates throughout the day.  This should help eliminate unnecessary measurements and photographs of smaller fish.

Please be aware the tournament will be postponed or suspended if there is a small craft advisory or gale warning for the lower Niagara.  We won’t tell you not to fish, but we will not hold the tournament in potentially dangerous conditions.

Following the tournament we’re having pizza and wings at Ray Mahtook's house (thanks Ray and Kathy).  Enter now and good luck everyone!
