Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Those of you who attended the March meeting know that the membership in attendance approved a ballot format. That format would have each voter elect an opening and a closing date for both the upper Niagara River and the Buffalo Harbor. Sounds simple enough. Except there was no discussion, statement, or clarification as to how each of our votes would be counted. This is problematic.

A brief example: In regards to the Buffalo Harbor, I select July 1 for the opener and December 15 for the closing date. Question: does this mean that I’ve chosen a July 1 to December 15 season for the Buffalo Harbor, and that my selection for either the opener or closing date cannot be used in combination with an opening and closing date I did not select? Or is my selection for either the opener or closer counted with all the other selections for the opener or closer? If the latter is the case, then my opening date of July 1, if that is the selection which received the most votes, can be used with the closing date of November 30 (if that date received the most votes). The ultimate result would then constitute a season running from July 1 to November 30th, which might be a season I would never support.

Because there was never a discussion or clarification of how our selections would be counted, and there are two distinct methods, the ballot as voted upon at the March meeting would be unusable. Accordingly, the NMA Board, with the agreement of John Pensyl (the member who made the motion which was passed), and Larry Jones (a principle supporter of the movement for a season extension) have agreed and decided to use the following ballot format, which had previously been successfully employed by the NMA in 2005. We believe that the results of this ballot would best represent the season preference of the NMA membership:

In this ballot members rank their preferred season in order of preference, starting with 1 (most preferred) then 2,3,and 4 (least preferred). The selection with the lowest aggregate score would be the selection preferred by our members, and would thus be supported by the NMA.

"Rank in order of preference (1, 2, 3, and 4), the season you prefer for the Buffalo Harbor:

___    3rd Saturday in June to November 30th

          ___    July 1st to November 30th

___    3rd Saturday in June to December 15th

          ___    July 1st to December 15th

Rank in order of preference (1, 2, 3, and 4), the season you prefer for the

upper Niagara River:

___    3rd Saturday in June to November 30th

          ___    July 1st to November 30th

___    3rd Saturday in June to December 15th

          ___    July 1st to December 15th

The season with the lowest cumulative score (highest cumulative preference) will

be the season supported by the Niagara Musky Association."

If you have any questions concerning this ballot or the voting procedure, please respond on this forum. More information will be included in the April newsletter.

Good Day

Thanks and nice work, Tony. I like it.

Should have cleaned the islands today it was delicious outside today. Even though I  do not know if we can do either this island year. Motor Island has Great white and Great Blue Herons nesting already. Strawberry Island has a Bald Eagle  couple moving on.
