Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

I think most of us have a little bit of equipment junky in us (some way, way more than others) & when it comes time to buy something new, no matter what it is, it's nice to hear from somebody who's owned & used one before, for the good, the bad, and the ugly part of it.  A lot of times we'll ask our friends if they've ever used or heard anything about this or that piece of equipment, like a new GPS/Fishfinder (hint, hint, Scott), new fishing reel (Facilities?), new rod, a new battery, new outboard, a new boat, or anything else you spend the money your kids would eventually get anyway.

So, what ya' think? How many people have bought something new in the past and are still using it?  What do you think of it?  Was it a good or bad deal?  Would you buy it again?

If you're thinking of buying something, would you like to hear what somebody else has to say about it?

There is going to be an article in the next newsletter that will be an equipment junky's review of what he or she owns & has used.

If you have something you'd like to share with the other members, please write it up & email it to Scott M. for the newsletter (aka "The Rag").  If you don't want to write it up but are willing to talk about it, please email me on this site or call my cell (716-913-0996).  I'll B.S with you to get enough info to write it for you, then email it back to you so you can review, give the OK, & then send it away to Scott for the rag.

By the way, this is for stuff bought new, only.  If you've already owned it for a couple/three years, even better.  Then you've had some time to use it.

So, let me know what you think.  Thanks..JJ

Great idea...how about a new page for reviews?

Shimano tekota 700

for trolling nothing compares, for a river full of weeds and moss it's a god send

leave the rod in the holder, crank the baits in,, it's made my life so much easier

I combine that with the glass/graphite swc st. Croix series,, it's perfect

ohhh and the clicker really sounds great when the rod goes off on a good fish

Brett...I took a look at that reel on line & I think it would make a great review for an Equipment Junkie.  Would you be willing or have the time to write a review?  If you wouldn't have the time, I'd like to talk with you on the phone after I do a little research on it so I know what to ask.  Then you can give me your take on it, likes, dislikes, approximate price you paid, how long you've had it, etc. and also include the rod combo you use it with. I can write it up, send it to you, & then send it off to Scott.  If it doesn't make it in this month's "rag", then it can be saved for next month or even a future month when the topics are hard to come by, like January or February.  I think it's an excellent subject to write about because it looks like it would be of interest to the other members.  Nothing like having a good trolling reel for those screamers.

I'm going to be pretty busy the rest of this week so can you let me know how you want to handle it....write something yourself or we can talk & I'll write.  You can see this months "rag" for a review on another piece of equipment.  Thanks much...JJ

Agree with Brett 100%, the Tekota 700LC is awesome for trolling the big baits, especially in current, the first time you reel in a Brett Harbour Master or Frankie Bait  to check for weeds at trolling speeds you'll be doing some mental arithmetic on how the hell you can dig up the cash to buy a 2nd one.

I just bought my 2nd one.

I thought the Tekota 600LC reels were the cat's meow, not even close to the 700LC.
