Images

Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

The Babe has nothing on me (other than 714 home runs and baseball immortality). (What is it with me and baseball lately?) This morning on the site I called Carrie's shot and she produced.  She hadn't been off to the best start this year.  With my seven fish looming over her head like closing time for Pooner at an all-you-can-eat buffet, she has been a little upset about her cold start.  She has playfully (and not so playfully) accused me of "cheating", and has a handful of loyal supporters led by Tom Page and John Miller, busting my chops about her lack of production.

We started out this morning in front of Strawberry for a few trolling runs and made our way over to the Triangle.  Down stream trolling the ridge, I made the situation worse when I popped a 39" on an orange belly perch Mr. Toothy 44-back.  About an hour later I exacerbated the situation further with a 30" down streaming Lunge Lane with the same lure 42-back.  She let out a, "Are you kidding me!", when I announced I had a fish on.

Casting the Canadian shoreline in UN13 it appeared her cold streak had snapped. "Fish on!  I can't move it!"  I had of course just bombed a Monster Tube a quarter mile and reeled like hell so I could finally net the monkey that's been perched on her back.  As soon as I had my lure in, her fish came off.  The fish was at least forty inches and would have been one hell of a fish casting weeds.  She was now really upset and so was I.  Sometimes musky fishing isn't very fair.

The lost fish almost broke her.  She started to cry a little bit.  I would have too.  It was a nice fish.

We took another drift through the area, but couldn't get the fish to move again.  We trolled the long weed edge down to the Shipyards and grabbed the expensive rods again.  There the cold streak finally snapped.  She was chucking the edge with the same black bucktail just before Mr. Toad's Wild Ride when she called, "FISH ON!"  This time she put the screws to the fish and landed a 30" to break the ice for the season.  Sometimes the first one is the hardest.

In 2002 or 3 It took me until late July to catch my first.  I was not a pleasant person to be around prior.

Tony, do you have any experience with the musky gods and crying?  I'm going to try it.

After her triumphant dink, we messed around doing the Zolnowski and decided to call it quits after a brief Karma Drift with Carl Schenk.

We were back out at 8:15 PM (for some reason I though moon rise was 9:00 PM today, it was at 8:00) and we cast and trolled until 11:15.  No fish, no follows, only lots and lots of moss.

Back out tomorrow night for the full moon.

There are a lot of muskies out there.  Go fishing.

First of all.... I was not too upset about the first fish.  Second, I am not a stingy partner, I was upset that I had just let out my line when Scott caught the fish, thereby prompting my "are you kidding me?"  However, he is correct about my "few tears." About fifteen minutes after losing that fish, Scott asked me what I wanted to do next, down 9-0 at this point I was beyond frustrated, I was definitely crying, and I am almost positive that my dinky 30" was due to the "Musky Gods" taking pity on me, so go ahead and cry, it may just work :)

Congratulations Carrie!!! I have neen out 7x and have not caught anything yet! I lost fish, had em boat side, everything except catching one!!! So i cry myself to sleep daily!!! And have the soggy bottom boys "man of constant sorrow" on replay in my car!
