Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all. Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

At yesterday's meeting, I discovered that there are a few fly fishermen in our club, not many, just a few, and there are even several of us who tie our own flies (to save money, no doubt-HA!).Is there any interest out there for a fly swap? Here's the way it works; let's say five people are interested. Each person ties five flies, all of the same fly. Then we pick a day to get together & everyone brings the five flies they tied. The flies are split amongst each other & each person walks away with five flies total, one each of a different fly.
To make it E-Z for everyone, I'd like to put out a few ground rules, but they all can be changed, added, or deleted, but it's a place to start:
1. A limit of six tiers. If 20 volunteered, you'd have to tie 20 of the same fly. Who wants to do that? I've got a shelf life of about four flies of the same kind then I start looking for something else to tie. Since this is the 1st swap, I think we should limit it to six, but that can change.
2. Since this is a MUSKY club, the flies should be for fish that eat other fish, not fish that eat insects, worms, etc. So, my opinion (opinion only) is that we tie only big wooly buggers, turks, deceivers, clousers, etc. and no eggs, dry flies, nymphs, emergers & those kind of small insects.
I might tie some big clousers or that red & white I posted the other day.
3. We can get together for the swap in about two or three months. It takes time to get everything out of the closest.
4. If you've always wanted to tie, but don't tie, sign up anyway. I have an extra vise, extra equipment (bobbin, scissors, etc.), extra material (feathers, deer hair, thread). If you want to learn how to tie, join the swap & you & I can get together about 45 minutes before the meeting (for 4 or 5 meetings) & I'll show you how to tie & let you use my equipment.
SO???...any interest out there. Just sign up here. It's painless.
Thanks

Cap'n...I heard that peacock bass on a fly are AWESOME!! (for next year). You'll have to let us know.
We won't tie at the Feb meeting (Conservation mtg) but we'll talk. I've got an extra vise, material, & most anything else you'll need & we can make arrangements to get you into tying, & you'll be able to take home hte equipment, too.
Muskie flies are hard for me because the proportions are way out of whack but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I found an E-Z pattern today & will try it out tonight.
Once we get some tied, we'll hit the river & get us a couple of muskies (that's a couple each, of course!!). You'll need something to do with all that extra time you'll have in retirement.
If muskies are a fish of a thousand casts, then muskies on a fly are a fish of ten thousand casts.
