Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Joe Dolan...what's the difference between the i-pilot, i-pilot link and auto pilot on the Terrova's?

Hey John,

I have never played with a Terrova that just had Auto Pilot, but I believe the difference is just technological advancements through the years:

Auto Pilot:

Has the ability to keep your trolling motor going in the direction that you were pointing in when you activated the auto pilot button.

I-Pilot:

Has the auto pilot functionality, but adds many more features...

- Advanced Auto Pilot - Takes into account the path you were going in.  It will try to auto-correct its path if it is windy/wavy.

- Cruise Control

- Spot Lock (Anchor)

- Ability to record a couple Tracks/Paths

I-Pilot Link

This has all of the features that the I-Pilot has, but also adds:

- Ability to communicate with Humminbird Fishfinders (that have networking built into them).  This is how I am able to create tracks from setting waypoints on my Helix fishfinder.

- Easier to record tracks/paths

- Allowed to store many more tracks/paths

- If you have a Humminbird with the autocharts card or the lakemaster chip, you can set the trolling motor to keep you on (or x distance from) a contour line.

- If you have a Humminbird with Autocharts, you can map the contours of any body of water to get more accurate countour/bottom material mappings.

- The newest I-Pilot Link also includes a Jog feature that lets you move in 5ft increments in any direction when you are in Spot Lock mode.

Hopefully I did not miss too many features between the three models!

That helps a lot guys. Thanks much! I'm looking to upgrade my motor but have a Lowrance unit. Looking to upgrade everything. My motor right now is a 55 lb but I've been reading up & using a higher thrust on my 16-1/2 Alumacraft might use less power because I'll be able to get the same speed on a lower setting.
