Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

For those of us who have never been to the biggest event of the summer, and there does seem to be a couple of big handfuls of new members, at what shelter will the picnic be held and can brief directions be given?

I'd like to get there before the police, guard dogs, National Guard and NSA arrive so I won't be able to find it before that.  Otherwise, it will be easy to spot.

Thanks..JJ

John, we're in the marina shelter.  I suggest parking in the marina lot.  Head east and let the "Alla bala bala's" gently drifting on the splendid August breeze guide you.  See you Sunday!

Parkl admission is about 6 bucks so you might carpool.  Trust me, you will eat a lot more than 6 bucks.  And the tall tales you will hear will be priceless.

We've had some weather for our picnics that can loosely be described as biblical over the years.  We've had extreme temperatures.  Remember the year it was so cold we were all huddled around the grills in our float suits?  We really should have written down those musky doo-wop songs we improvised, "Sitting on the Dock at the launch", "Earth Musky", "Sixteen Perchbaits", and "I only have lures for you" would have been big hits.  How about the time it was so hot I actually melted to my folding chair?  I still have pieces of the plastic strips embedded in the back of my thighs.  Then there's the time the monsoon hit and we built that arc just to be safe. I wonder if Jojo still has that volleyball he started talking to?  I've never seen it rain gobies and rudd before.  Despite the inclement weather we've experienced in the past, we've always had a great time at our picnics.  This year, according to the fancy weather widget in the lower left column of our site, we (hopefully) will be looking at partly cloudy skies and a high in the seventies.  Keep your fingers crossed.  See you Sunday.

I'm bringing my Beckman in case it rains muskies.  Wouldn't want any of them to get hurt.  Hey Carrie, can we make a picnic activity out of that if the muskies come raining down on us?  We'll all run around with our Beckman's (or is plural of Beckman; Beckmen?) trying to get them before they touch the ground.

Raining muskies, huh?  There must be additional outrageous contingencies we should prepare for.  Has there been any talk of our picnic during our tree wrapping visits to Strawberry?  Do our furry bucktoothed nemesis know we are gathering this Sunday at Beaver Island for our annual summer shindy?  Beaver Island?  We are clearly invading their turf.  Are we walking into a trap?  What have they planned for us?  What if we arrive and Jojo and his grills are wrapped in metal netting?  Suppose during lunch the sneaky buggers wrap the entire shelter in mesh?  What if they start felling trees on us?  Bring your Knipex and hard hats!

didn't jojo tell you?  The Beaver Patrol is bringing their mallets.  If the bucktoothed critters show up we'll show them our version of whack-a-mole.
