Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all. Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

I was driving on the 190 today and almost due east of one of the horseshoe legs of Strawberry was what looked like a pile of rocks above the water. It was farther south than Frog Island. Anybody know what that is? Is it to keep the boat wave action from eroding the horseshoe legs?
I'm stopping down that area Sunday to shoot some pics. If I get them in time, maybe they'll get posted in the newsletter.

Looks like it's about 100' long.
and prob in shallow. the guy in the boat looks like he's got his main motor tilted up & his hand on an electric(?). His hand's up pretty high and back to be on a kicker.
Maybe they were trying to chase the cormorants of the island. If they become too plentiful they are also a threat to trees.
Steve...I'm going to "shoot" an email (now that's a lame joke) over to Tim DePriest & Chris Legard & find out what's going on.
Stay tuned.
John,
It's cormorant control. They've been doing it every year, but don't publicize it.
Tony
Thanks, Tony. I did get an email from Tim D & yes, like you said, the blasts are for cormorant control.
Additionally, the steel pilings have to do with NYPA's final Habitat Improvement Project for Strawberry. He will be covering that during his presentation at Woodlawn Beach and will send me a link or copy of that presentation.
