Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Onboard Toms boat the water temperature reading in the river was 66, yet Lake Erie is being reported as 71. Is Toms sensor off? I'm wondering what others are getting?

Carl...here is a website that gives Lake Erie water temp every day of the week, all year long. Here is what is posted as far as the location of the sensor:

"The Lake Erie water temperature is officially taken at the Buffalo Water Treatment Plant located on Lake Erie at the entrance to the Niagara River.  The reading is taken at a depth of 30 feet."

It sounds like somewhere around the Roundhouse. For the opener, June 17th, the temp is listed as 71 deg. & that's 30 ft down.

He should put his sensor in a bucket of ice water. It should read 32 deg. Or maybe he can measure it in the driveway alongside a thermometer. They should both read close to the same

Here's the link for June: https://www.weather.gov/buf/LakeErieJune

Got 66 in the lower today also on both fish finders. It's 66

thanks. just seemed strange to see a 5 degree change

I was out yesterday. Went out at 5:30am, temp read about 66. Quit at 10am, temp read 70. These are all surface temps, subject to daily volatility based on night and day temperature variations, wind, sun, etc.

I believe the deep water temp is less volatile and most significant.
