Images

Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Tryin to catch me trollin’ dirty

Joe Zolnowski and I, two-thirds of the legendary (not so much) Three Stooges musky bomb posse, members of Ronald Reagan's Cold War Bustin' Crew (we signed the guestbook on a trip to Marten River as such back in the late 90’s) and founding members of Team Spar (a sausage shop on Amherst near Grant, whose owner cut us a great deal on his magnificent tubes of meat (keep it clean, Fortunate), and whose name we finally adopted for our fishing trips), were flashing musky gang signs on the River today from 9 to 3:30.  Other than two duck hunters and the nice men and women of the United States Coast Guard, who performed a quick safety inspection of our vessel, we were the only boat out.

We gave the River a slow drive-by, pulling big stuff (for us, not Dave Martin) including a 16” Turus Ucko, Grandmas, Plows, a huge Loki and a Renny Shoal Shocker (body rocker) from the Canal to the power lines in UN5 and back.  We spent a little time in UN2, pounding the humps in the Triangle, where the water was really muddy, at moonset.  The muskies were not impressed at all.  Other than emerald shiners, we didn’t catch a thing.  We did have a grand old time though.  Joe and I have spent so many hours fishing together over the years getting skunked, this little trip went by in about five minutes.

It looks like tomorrow might be a day off for me.  I’m not as tough (or as dumb, although most would debate this vehemently) as I use to be.  I will definitely be out Thursday with Carrie, slow trolling and looking for another Niagara River Queen.  I think I’m going to slather my baits in turkey gravy.  I don’t expect much clarity (water, and my thoughts) at all.  Best of luck, and be safe out there.

Scott....after you slather you baits in turkey gray, we'll expect Carrie to post a pic of you with a lure stuck in your cheeks.

Funny, John!  Has anyone ever tried stuffing Monster Tubes with Stove Top?  I'll try it on our next trip.  Poonnnaise (one of Tommy J's many nicknames) on!

My sisters awesome apple pie might entice them but I would have a hard time giving it up. Maybe eggnog would be worth giving a try.
