Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all. Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

I want to take my second trip ever to Chautauqua, but I need a lot of help. I took a trip with Ketry and Arena a few years back and we got 4 fish in the net! All action came casting Mayville. So I know casting Mayville is a viable pattern, but don't know if there are any reasons why I shouldn't try Mayville now. I am also aware of Capt Larry's success trolling for suspended fish over mid 30 foot depths. Although I do not run leadcore, I assume I can long line deep divers to replicate that pattern. I heard of the toxic algae bloom and know one is under way, but I don't know how that affects fishing. Any help, even your take on the above patterns will be greatly appreciated. Thanks gang

John,
When are you going to Chautauqua? Since the start of the season, the trolling bite has been the better approach. We have found a few fish casting, but trolling the trolling bite has been too impressive to skip over. I normally expect to see the casting bite improve up in the north end around September, but who knows with how this year has been! For now, I will continue my trolling pattern.
