Fishing Report 11/29

I fished the west side this afternoon.  I tried shallow, mid, deep, medium, slow, slower, big, little, jointed, straight, hot, natural, long lines, short lines, down, cross and up.  I tried Jakes, Believers, Toothys, Perchbaits, Plows, Grandmas, turkey, peanut butter and jelly, pretzels, trail mix, diet soda and water.  I tried sitting, standing, lounging, facing forward and backward.  I even jigged for almost a solid two minutes!  (It damn near killed me!)  I CAN'T BUY A STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is it for me on the upper for 2014.

Like I always do on the 30th, I will think of Tim.  He is gone now ten years.  Ten years?  Can you believe it?  It doesn't hurt like it was yesterday everyday, but it does sometimes.  Fortunately most of my memories are happy, funny, and nostalgic, but there is often that empty feeling or a brief squint and slight tremble to my lips when my smile fades or when I finish telling the story.

I am going to pull big lures around, cast for the sake of casting and have fun.  It will be a long time until I get to do this again. I'm not going to take it for granted.  I'm probably not going to catch anything, but you never know.  My last day in 2014 will be like the last day of the Tour De France.  The muskies have already won. I'm just going for a nice ride.

Just in case we get lucky, how do you say "fish on" in French?
