Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

What's the first lure you cast, jig and troll on Opening Day?

I will start the day casting.  I will be throwing a lunge lumber lure jerkbait.  I will also have a Wooly Bully bucktail tied on another rod to switch between lure types  When I get tired of casting, I will throw on my Baker Baits trolling set and get them wet.

I love the first day feeling when you just want to go through your entire box to try all of the things you have thought of/imagined during the winter!

I know the feeling Joe.  I bust out the old favorites first, but if they don't connect early, the new toys start rattling around in the tackle box to get my attention.  For some reason a brand new, out of the box bucktail works better for me opening day historically. I've picked up an old Wiley jerkbait off E-Bay that is begging to be fished.  i hope it's tuned  or I can tune it quickly.  if not, it will live in the mess of tangled lures on the front deck for a few days.  Good luck!

A jointed hot-perch depthraider. Because it's been so good to me for all these years (at least 20). Then a legend perchbait or an old homemader. I'll start in the harbor and move from there.

I will try a Little Ernie near the boootm and a bucktail in the prop wash in the North Gap. Last week I went through the tackle bags I have been lugging around for the last ten years. I condensed my stuff down into ONE bag. Why I have been carrying a dozen jig heads and four JoJo balls around escapes me right now! The most I ever lost in a day was two jigs, so why so many in the bag??? Now all I need to hear is that guys landed muskies on lures that I left at home. Isn't that what makes this sport so great??

Good luck to all.
