Motored out of sheridan around 530am, to my surprise the only boat in sight for at least 40 min. Started right on top of strawberry in close hoping to find a fish in the calm water from the increasing wsw wind. Burned bucktails around every veggie patch all the way past the big weed bed behind motor, only bass pretending to want a piece.

Since I'm not horribly familiar with the upper, I decided to just keep workin my way down the break line. More nothing.
Around 720 made the mistake of reaching my foot out to bump the minn kota foot pedal while burning over patchy milfoil. At the same time a fairly hot mid 40s closed the distance and started to flare as I lost my balance and let the blades stop and she turned. Looked very clean.

Only other action was a violent low 30s I pinned around 850 just north of the grand island bridge in a small slack water pocket. Walleye colored tube that I tipped with a black Mr. Twister mostly to amuse myself. Looked like a little lamprey, on the front single hook instead of the rear. Netted really green by my gf and gave us both a little shower. Comical catch and a strong torpedo release.
Really rough back to the launch at 1. Safe smooth landing.

Geez, a real nice one, Mike.  I like to see those small ones.  It's a good sign.  Do you remember what was the water temp?  I think with the hot wx we've been having, it's getting up there, but with all this wind, might be getting a cooling effect.

Didn't check as much as I should've but I know I started out in barely 70 degree water and with the heavy winds surface temps were up a little over 73 by the time I left the water. It cooled down significantly on land since then however. Lucky we've been in the mid to low 60s at night and even 50s some nights. Keeping us away from that 75 degree mark
