It's a Girl!!!!

At our April Meeting we voted to purchase two radio tags for the Georgian Bay Musky Association's telemetry study.  In the GBMA's September Newsletter, Mike McKie printed a picture of our 46" female from the northern basin.  Here's a picture of her.

Ain't she pretty?  I love her!  I think we should give her a name.  Reply to this discussion and I'll include a poll on the site next week.

Here are a few details about our girl.  it seems she's very cooperative.  She's been located on twelve different occasions.  She has been caught and released by an angler this year and showed no ill effects of the incident.  That's our girl!

I like Brynhildr, who was a Valkyrie and more importantly for us, a shield maiden. Get it?

How about "Georgia", or "Georgiana" from Georgian Bay?   Here are some songs that were named after Georgia :

"Georgia on My Mind", a 1930 ballad popularized by Ray Charles and the official state song of Georgia.
"Georgia" by John Mayer
"Rainy Night in Georgia" a song written by Tony Joe White in 1962 and popularized by R&B vocalist Brook Benton in 1970.
"Georgia, Take me to the Sea" By Jaguar Love.
"Midnight Train to Georgia" by Jim Weatherly & popularized by Gladys Knight & the Pips.
"Sweet Georgia Brown"  a jazz standard written in 1925 by Ben Bernie & Maceo Pinkard (music) and Kenneth Casey (lyrics). It is the theme song of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.
