Images

Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Carrie...and anybody else

1. so, what's the point of watching moonrise & moon fall?

2. Better yet, what is it?  I clicked on the 'hourly report' on the 'weather' link (lower left hand corner of Home page) & saw the arc of the moon throughout the day.

3. If the moon is 51% full, like today, does it stay at 51% throughout today & then become 52% tomorrow?

4. Is the 'arc' shown on the weather page the height of it as it goes across the sky?

5. Does it matter how high the arc gets, i.e., now it might get a certain height, but when it's 75% full, it might get higher in the sky?  Does that make a difference?

4. Having done 98% of my fishing out in the lake, the thing I primarily watch is the wind direction & I fish by the winds.  For me, I know which winds produce the best fishing & which ones I feel like I would be wasting my time.  Back in my younger days (much younger days), I would night fish on a full moon but that was the extent of watching the moon, other than howling at it on some nights I'd rather forget.

Some of the members I've talked to like to fish certain times of the moon & go by that like I go by the wind direction & speed.

Thanks much for any info but this moon rise & fall is new to me & I'd like to learn about it..jj

Check out the March 2012 newsletter, page 8.  Dan Lacko has a great article on moon phases and there effect on muskies.

John- I personally treat moonrise as more of a superstition, I know we have caught fish during moonrise in the past so my confidence is always higher during that time.  Sorry I don't have any technical answers for you!

Scott/Carrie...Found the March article!!  Thanks.  I'll have to study it.  And, Carrie, no need to be sorry about not having technical answers.  Engineers have a tendency to ask technical questions and if you just tell them that their pocket protectors look very fashionable on them, we'll just go away.  And I sure believe in the confidence factor, too.  To me, there's a lot of truth in it and has a lot to do with the methods we use, favorite lures we fish, conditions we fish in & locations we go.  thanks again.

John I believe it is related to. The gravitational pull of the moon causing pressure changes similar to a frontal pressure change crossing?
There Is. Good moon rise app if want to know it. Jojoout
