Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Our annual Picnic was held today on the shores of the mighty and majestic Niagara River at Beaver Island State Park under the Marina Shelter.  I think I can speak for everyone who attended; it was a very nice, family oriented event and the food was fantastic.

Let’s start with the “Thank you’s”.  First and foremost I have to thank Jiggin’ Joe Wilczewski for cooking for us once again.  Today marked the seventeenth time Joe has prepared lunch for us at the Picnic.  Once again, that’s seventeen times!  There is a reason I tell anyone who will listen, Joe is the hardest working member we have ever had.  From the entire Club and every picnic attendee Joe, THANK YOU AGAIN!!!  I don’t know what we would do without you and quite frankly I don’t like to even imagine our club without you as a member.

Big ups to Dave “Turk” Reed who assisted Joe cooking for what I believe to be the tenth consecutive year.  Dave isn’t a member of our club and he always finds time in his very busy schedule to lend us a hand.  Thank you Turk!

Frank Stachowiak put together one of the best raffle tables we have had in recent memory thanks to his shopping prowess.  Frank has been our Lure and Raffle Director for many years now and his position entails a great deal of work.  These lures don’t “magic” their way to the raffle tables.  He has to contact lure and tackle companies to find the best deal, order the lures and what-not’s, inventory them, store them, select them, bring them and display them at the meetings and events.  He also supplements our tables by running around town looking for non-fishing items.  It is a job.  Make sure you thank Frank the next time you see him.  He deserves it.

Hope and Gary or Gary and Hope Melnyk did their usual fantastic job selling raffle tickets.  Thanks again guys!  I can always count on you.

Mike Fortunate is becoming quite a ticket salesman and he handled the Chinese Auction ticket sales for the remaining half of Roy Edwards’ substantial donation of lures and equipment.  Thanks Mike and thanks again Roy for your generosity’

Jim Kinner scoured the bottom of the Niagara River and accumulated a bunch of our lost treasure s and donated them back to us in the form of Davey Jones Locker.  Thank you Jim.

Joe W. found some time to run the kids casting contest which was a big hit with the numerous little ones in attendance.  I can’t recall a picnic with so many junior members present.  It was very nice to see.  If this keeps up, we’ll add a bunch of games and activities for them at future picnics.

The adult’s casting contest consisted of eleven members vying for the coveted title of C3 or casting contest champion.  If the Olympics weren’t concluding today, I’m told NBC was strongly considering sending a camera crew to broadcast the event live.  They should have as history was made.  TJ Clark became the youngest champion ever, sinking his second attempt in the third round to claim the title.  TJ took home $55 for his win and bragging rights for the next year.  Congratulations TJ!

I was talking to Tony and he agreed, today’s spread may have been the best ever.  What really made the cuisine exceptional was all of the wonderful side dishes and desserts bought by our members.  Thank you all so much.

Do me a favor.  If you went to the Picnic and had a great time, make sure you tell other members what they missed.   I would love to need both sides of the shelter to accommodate our Picnic each year.  Thanks again everyone!

Good Day

Thanks to Frank , Gary, Hope, Jim, Mike, Turk and Scott who forgot to thank himself?  It was a team effort, right down to eating all the food.  Piggies can be fun too? For some reason there was NO chili left? Either I guessed correctly or the gang could not stop eating it. I bet there were some warm households last night; chili, sausage, beer and three kinds of baked beans??? It was a nice spread, thanks to all for bringing the sides. My only complaint is always the same, I think we should make a mandatory length of stay.  We get all our friends in one place , talking fishing no less, and as soon as it is time to relax and hang out ( for me? ) most of the gang has left??? Whats wit dat???

Looks like we will be back again next year. I talked to the parkees today and they will let us / me unload at the shelter next year. It seems that I just ran across some cranky parkees yesterday?

Also anyone near the islands seeing Beaver destruction,  please take pictures. They would like pics of the damage. We need ALL the trees left to stay up.

Thanks again to all for the help and showing up. The smiles and gratitude make it all priceless...

ALA BALA BALA
