Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

To make 2012 a better year on the water?

Got any new ideas or thoughts heading into 2012?

I'm hoping to continue to fish more new water locally, venture out on the big water more when I can get out there in my 18' boat.

This can be a challenge in the fall as we all know.

I won't be helping the NYS Angler Diary (catch rate/hrs fished) stat but I know it will be fun.

I plan on doing a lot of of bass fishing so that I get in the habit of actually catching fish when November rolls around.

I bought two of the Diawa Saltist reels with the 47" line recovery per crank.  I lost about 20 fish last year and I am hoping this helps me get them to the boat faster.

Now that you have big boy casting reels, are you going to get big boy casting rods?  (How smart am I? I'm poking fun at the guy who caught the most fish in the Club last year.)

Got some new soft plastic trolling stuff for this year to play with.  Check out this video:

The Alabama Rig comes to musky fishing.  Wow!  Very cool to watch, but I'm not sure how cool to net or release.

There are only hooks on the trailer bait.

Gotcha.  Looks awesome.  Might have to try one in the Harbor.  Do they make them tooth proof?

They feel pretty tough as far as the plastic goes. For the trailer lure (the one with the hooks) I modified the line it was on (seagar floro) and made it heavier with a 10" single strand wire near the bait. Not sure if it will effect the action but I don't just intend to use a hogy as the trailer, I want to try shallow cranks, gliders, blades, and of course tubes.

I think I will continue to explore more sections of steelhead streams, Maybe a spring trip to the Salmon river. after that, it will be early bass, and maybe try a few night outings for walleye. It will be muskie season before you know it, and I will cast some, jig some, and troll some opening weekend.

Underwater, There are a few drifts I haven't done in a while, We also have a few new guys out there. They want to do some lake Erie shipwreck diving, so I'll do a limited amount of that with them.

Plan is to stay off the river for early season. Hate fighting the moss. Over the past couple early seasons I worked on a trolling system to beat the moss, beat the moss it does fairly well, but the fish will have nothing to do with the presentation.

This season I plan on getting out on Erie on the good days. Will do a lot of multi species fishing with musky trolling thrown in the mix. Hope to find a spot or two out there that are holding some super tankers.

If all goes well, will also be bring'n home a few tasty walleye or perch

Imagine what it would be like hooking two or three muskies on the Alabama rig.  It is tough enough to get one to the boat sometimes.
