Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

I sat in on a muskie fly tying demo last weekend.  The tier (an excellent one) fishes Chautauqua a lot & showed many of his techniques.  A couple of things I learned:

1. Tie flies that "push" a lot of water.  Muskies don't like streamlined.  They want to see commotion.

2. Synthetics are easier to cast than naturals, esp. when wet & you've been casting for two hours.

3. Double bunnies (a natural) cast like a wet sock, but wet socks are effective for catching muskies.

So, I tied one up that's about half synthetics, to keep it light.  The "wings" are splayed to the O/S to push water, the green tail & orange throat are actually synthetics, & the feathered collar will push water up front.

137 days to go before the opener.

The less water your fly retains, the easier it is to cast.  Looks great.  Try big fly fiber for your bodies.  They give your flies bulk without weight.

Checked it on line & it looks like what I've been looking for.  The tier made his own dubbing brush with .015" wire so making the jig is my project for this weekend.  The big fly fiber will lay in there nicely.

SEE EVERYONE AT THE MEETING TONITE!!

Tie the big fly fiber sparsely; you get a lot of bang for your buck.
