Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Went out this am to learn how to use my new electric motor. Hard trouble turning right with the old one. Could have been fixed with a new foot pad, but I felt like my boat could use an upgrade, so I opted for an 80lb thrust Terrova with the ipilot. Works nice for casting and drifting.

So I cast and drifted for 4 hours and trolled for one with nothing. But a beautiful day.

Saw Cullen in UN1. He was trolling/casting/drifting. A nice pattern he has set up for himself. He caught a 41 his first drift, and a big walleye, and a sheepshead by the time I talked to him.

Also saw Carl in the shipyards. He was teaching himself to troll on his own. Lost one at boatside about 10:30 am.

I trolled down to Staleys and called it a day. I think I'll do the night later in the week. After tomorrow, days will be too nice (unless you get out early).

SWEET!!, Tony.  I was out perch fishing a couple of times last year in 68' of H2O, so I have 150' of anchor line out because it's a little breezy.  We're not on the fish, so we have to pull up 150' of line against the wind & waves & try to figure out where to drop it on the drift.  Well, the spot we picked wasn't the spot, so the 150' comes in & we try again.

Next to us are three guys in an 18' Lund & I see them moving here, there, jogging 10' over & there's NO ANCHOR line!  So, I went over, talked & they had the Terrova ipilot.  If they wanted, they could jockey the boat over 10' or so at a time.

It was the 1st time I had seen that & was the one of the most amazing things I saw in my life!!  It's on my list of toys to get.  Glad you got one.

After the season, can you give us a report on it?

Does it run on 24 VDC and does it run constantly if you want to be anchored?

John, the "anchor" mode just uses GPS to keep you in a 5ft radius from where you press the anchor button on the remote.  If the winds pick up, it will run constant just to keep you in the area.  If it is a calm day, you will barely notice it running.

I have to say, this trolling motor was (and still is) one of my favorite additions to my boat a few years back...

Good day
I have the same Minn Kota and love it. John if in the river on spot lock it will run continuously and it is 24 volts. i have yet to tire her out. Tony wait till you use the auto pilot to troll down river. Bring a comfortable chair and a cold beverage because it is hands free trolling. I can also get close to 2 mph up river if I get a snag i can power back.
The only bad thing is now I want the next one ipilot link . It links to the graph and foollows contours and trails that I plot
Cheating I say !
Jojoout

Joe: thanks for the info.  Did you get a hold of Frank?  he told me he was going to be at Cabela's early.

Now I want to get one more than ever.  My trolling motor is almost brand new but I could prob get a good trade on it.

jojo:  What they don't tell you is that the fish have a finder that is the "mirror image" of the Minn, except they get to see what your path is.  Sorry to tell you, but you won't have a chance (haha!)

Hopefully I'll see both you guys tonight.  I'll be in the fly-fishing section.  Is there anyplace you'd rather be than in that section?

The Fly Fishing Section was very nice!

I was aware of the link. Only problem is that I would have to buy a new depthfinder/GPS combo to link it to. My Hummingbird has built-in Navionics and now they're using Great Lakes?

I haven't tried trolling with it. I guess it would save some gas money?

It should be great for bass, too. Hovering over a spot to throw casts or drop a shot should be super.

Hey Tony, my dad and i were out there that morning as well, we had 3 follows in UN1 and a brief hookup all before about 7:30, i also had a rip trolling a brett's bait around 11:00 in 20ft of water by stanely's reef (that is the one mid river out from millers creek right?).
